Locations and Map

This page is designed to help visitors understand important locations, reference points, and how to plan movement around them.

What this section covers

This section brings together key ghats, temple zones, riverfront points, nearby landmarks, and practical movement references for visitors.

Useful planning reminders

  • access routes near major locations may change on high-footfall days
  • the final approach to some locations may be easier on foot
  • senior citizens, children, and disabled visitors should review nearby assistance options in advance
  • if an interactive map is unavailable, use the written directions and reference landmarks

Before heading to any location

  1. review the access route
  2. identify the nearest transport or parking option
  3. keep one fallback route in mind
  4. agree on a meeting point if travelling in a group

New ghats under development for 2027

As part of Simhastha preparations, several new or upgraded ghats are being developed along the Godavari in addition to the traditional Ramkund and Kushavarta centres, including:

  • Ghats on the right bank near the Godavari-Kapila confluence
  • A ghat on the left bank near the Godavari-Nandini confluence at Takli
  • The Odha Ram Ghat near the Ganpati Temple, intended for use during Shahi Snan
  • Ghats near Dasak on both banks of the river
  • New ghat construction on both banks at Trimbakeshwar

These works were under review by the state's Kumbh Mela Minister in mid-2026, with a completion target of March 2027. Treat specific ghat names and locations as provisional until confirmed by the local administration closer to the event.
